“There was the Irish Brigade in all the glory of a fair, free fight. Other men go into fights finely sternly, or indifferently, but the only man that really loves it, after all, is the green, immortal Irishman. So, there the brave lads from the old sod, with the chosen Meagher at their head, laughed, and fought, and joked, as it were the finest fun in the world.”

-Dr Thomas Ellis; Diary of an army surgeon

Fog-uh-a-ballag-uh ??

Faugh A Ballagh means clear the way. This was the mantra and battle cry of the Irish brigade one of the most admired regiments in all of the American Civil War.

I find their battle cry inspirational. Though there is no obvious correlation between the men of the Irish brigade and a website containing some nonsensical writing I’ve done, I hope to some day find it. Enjoy the spoof.

Many thanks,
